- I think this greatly depends on local conditions. A friend of mine couldn't
- run his Supra on his line, but a Sportster would. And a friend of his couldn't
- run that same Sportster on his line, but the Supra performed like a champ. So
- they ended up swapping modems and having no more problems.
-
- I've a Supra 28k8 and initially setting it up to connect to my ISP was nothing
- more doing than AT&F2W0. Then use ATZ. We had a h*ll of a time getting a USR
- Sportster set up though. It didn't like the v.34 modems my ISP uses. So it had
- to be set up to to try a v.fc connect first. Only then woul it connect at and
- reliably hold a connection at 28k8.
-
- My suggestion to everybody is to try and borrow some 28k8 modem or get one with
- a 'money back' guarantee. Then try it out on your line and with the sites you
- normally call. And just buy the one that works best for you. regardless of the
- brand or price.
-
- Take care,
